What We Teach
Ideas to notice, discuss and try.
The project connects language and stories, numbers and patterns, feelings and relationships, movement and making, and curiosity about the world. Each activity has one primary goal and an everyday-play invitation.
| Starting place | Typical invitation | Adult support |
|---|---|---|
| Explore · suggested ages 2–3 | Point to a familiar picture, match one plate to each toy, notice a sound | Participate throughout, model the invitation and accept gestures or assisted taps |
| Discover · suggested ages 3–5 | Count a small group, compare sounds, tell what happened | Introduce the task, offer a hint and extend the child's explanation |
| Build · suggested ages 5–7 | Explain an object-based number story, connect taught sounds and letters, revise an idea | Support unfamiliar skills and invite the child to explain their thinking |
These are starting places, not developmental deadlines. Adults choose reading and math separately. Shared-reading stories are read with an adult at any starting place. The current stories are shared-reading drafts; they are not controlled decodable child-read texts.
The planned collection uses Sound Safari, Shape Builders, Story Basket, Teddy's Picnic and Feelings Theater. Its agreed production target is 18 reviewed activities and six shared stories, with two Build decodable stories only if the reviewed sound/spelling sequence supports them. Those targets describe construction work ahead, not content already available.
